Robots!

April 21, 2010

If NASA is sending humanoid robots to space to do our work for us there, it seems as if it’s only a short amount of time until they are here on Earth performing simple tasks for us. Maybe at first as a small feature in a store, then eventually maybe evolving to being able to assist in such situations. It doesn’t seem that out of the question if our technology is already this advanced.

Google Labs

April 12, 2010

“Google Transliteration” – This website allows you to type in phonetically what you hear from someone speaking another language and if you have identified the language it is, Google will translate it into English for you. This seems pretty convenient seeing as how, for most translators, if you know how to spell it in the language, you probably speak it, thus negating the need for a translator… unless you’re just really good at guessing.

Aardvark – Aardvark is like Ask.com, but SO much better. Ask.com used to be this awesome site where you could type in any question and it would give you an “instant answer,” but really it was just a cleverly disguised search engine. Aardvark sends your question out onto the internet so that another person can answer it for you; kind of like a more efficient version of yahoo answers.

Gesture Search – This application is for anything that has a touch screen from what I can tell. It seems fairly efficient seeing as how most people have trouble scrolling down some screens or making their fingers fit the touch screen buttons. What Gesture Search does is it lets you draw a letter anywhere on your screen and it will bring up a search list of everything that includes that letter, making it much more efficient to find everything.
